Leisurely Sunday?

Let me tell you... bringing The Fantastic Four out for a nice meal and a little shopping requires thorough planning and a whole lotta PATIENCE. Last Sunday we had a little 'expedition' to Sunway Pyramid and had lunch at Tony Roma's. Thank God my mom came along, or else the only thing I could get to eat is the complimentary bread and a sip of Coca-Cola.

Budak2 lelaki ni mmg tak gheti dok diam eh?

Adam was adamant that I layan him and not Baby Azan, tiba2 jealous datang.

Adam with his Potato Soup In A Cup, he gobbled it in a jiffy but only ate half of his Kiddies Cheesey Pizza. Went off roaming around the restaurant and charmed the staff with his antics, so he scored a fridge magnet and some Mentos.

Adam and his Abg Long. It's rare to capture this two together, whatmore with Abg Long's arm around him, he looked right pleased dont u think?

Nana and her bodyguards, look at the various poses. Kelakarlah dorang ni.

Azfar discovered that the chocolate milkshake there is really good. The high sugar content therefore sent him to hyperactive mode. He sang and talked at the top of his voice, much to his Mommy's chagrin. After he finished his Fish and Fries, he was out of his seat and simply couldn't wait to be off... Daddy was not amused as his Steak had just arrived.

Ammar ordered the Kiddies Pasta, only to eat half of it and exclaimed that semua orang lain punya order sedap xcept for his. So he had a taste of all our orders, including Mommy's Shrimp Scampi Pasta and Nana's Grilled Prawn Kebab. Verdict? Oh, his pasta is really quite nicelah.

And my little keledek rebus baby Azan was so angelic , happily cooing and gurgling away, smiling and acting cutesy except the time when mommy's meal arrived, masa tulah dia nak nanges and nak dukung... haihhhhh

What about Daddy?

6th Raya Blues

Errgghhh... My whole body is aching... My poor bones are so tired. Funny coz it's only today that I feel tired after a whole week of being in the Raya Mode. I guess it has been hibernating the whole of last week and finally caught up with me today. Or maybe it's just because I'm not as young and energetic as before...? Yeah probably....

God, my head hurts too.

Women Only

Today I will be out shopping with Mother, Sister and BabyAzan. Will probably be out the whole day. Mother wants to go to SSF. Me and Sister wants to go to MidValley. BabyAzan he wants to go wherever I go as I provide food and drink for him :)

Mr. AKO will manage the Superheroes today, all the best to him (and all the best to me too, pray to GOD that the house will not be like tongkang pecah when I get home).

Mother and Sister will be here soon. I still have some washing to do.

I don't have anything to wear. All my nice clothes are a bit ketat. Furthermore have to wear something loose and comfy, easier to feed BabyAzan. Aiyooohh, just jeans and that black top which looks like a tent lah. Habis cerita, alah bukannya saya superstar pun takde orang nak tengok. He He.

Okay. Ta Ta For Now.
Muahhhss.

Lampu Lip Lap & Ketupat Reben

Been trying to locate my ketupat shaped fairy lights. I know it's somewhere in THERE. In the store. Xcept now I couln't find it. Coz' the store resembles an Amazonian Jungle. There might be anacondas in there. It might be sitting on my ketupat lights. But I need the lights. Q, Ammar and Adam have been asking for it. It should be up by now as it's nearing Malam Tujuh Likur. Where could it be?

Now I also need to get hold of the Ketupat Reben of last year. Also somewhere in the store. Q have been asking for them.

"Mummy, where are the colourful ketupat? Where Mummy? We need to decorate the house with it as it's nearing Raya."

"Errr... ok Q. It's somewhere in the store. I will find it."

"Mummy, where are the ketupat lights? We need to put them up as it's nearing Raya, right?"

"Hmmnnn hmnnn. I will find it Q. Ada kat dalam store tu je."

Gosh. Daaaaayyyyyymmmmm! Last Raya, the ketupat lights and ketupat reben have been carefully wrapped and stored by my maid. Now she's no longer working for me. And I don't know where them ketupats are. Arrgghh...

Ok guys, if u don't hear from me for the next couple of days, u know the anaconda has gotten me. Alert the rescue team.

4 Pasang Baju Melayu

Yesterday I was out and about with my mom all day! Firstly in the morning, I had an appointment with the O&G at 9.30 am. Ahhhh, u might think I went to Dr. D as she helped delivered all my children but no. I went to see Dr. Cheah. Fyi, Dr. Cheah has a clinic in SS15 Subang Jaya and he is also available at Assunta Hospital PJ. Hey, what's the big deal then? The thing is, I DIDN'T make the appointment myself. My MOM made it for me. And Dr. Cheah was HER gynea, who helped delivered my younger brother Azmir and my younger sister Faridah! So, it felt kind of special. Before, he examined my mom. And now, ME!!

OH? What's that again? WHY I went to see him? Errr... let's just say it's for me to never having to go to the labour room again. Eh, rasa cam nak terbatuk pulak tekak ni *clears throat*

Okay then, after Dr. Cheah we went to Jalan Tar, KL. Specifically to the "BAK" shop to get Baju Melayu Raya for my Superheroes. I did no dilly-dallying whatsoever as I had to be fast! Went to the shop, looked at the rows of kiddies Baju Melayu. Ahhh, this year they used Shantung material for the baju as opposed to the cotton SB line of yesteryears. Ada maju. A certain green shade caught my eyes, asked the sales assistant to get it in 3 different sizes. DONE! I was hoping to get one for baby AZAN too, but not available.

I was not deterred though. Off we went to the PKNS complex in Shah Alam. From experience I can attest that anything needed for Raya I could always find here. Ah-hah - true enough! Ada Baju Melayu for Azan in the exact same shade of green but made from cotton! Yeaayyy! Perfect, because Azan would definitely be comfortable wearing it. Oh, got a Baju Kurung for me too, made from english cotton. As much as I wanted to get soft pink chiffon Baju Kurung with adorable little sparkly embellishment, I coudn't as it wouldn't be practical for me now. Ada anak kecik, mesti terkoyak musnah sama sekali, ataupun terkena muntah dan air liur... he he he.

Wanted to look look and see see some more but we were running out of time. Had to prepare or rather BUY some juadah berbuka puasa.Mom said next week sambung beli barang. Thank Allah, Azan was behaving almost angelic throughout the whole day being out and about.

Rasa cam nak tunjuk Baju Melayu dorang kat blog ni tapi
..... wait for Raya lah okay guys? He he.

Oh pssstttt.. today is my Ayahanda's 63rd birthday so will berbuka at my parents' tonight. Yippeee!!!

Gettin' Ready

At the ripe old age of 33 (tee hee), Raya brings a whole new meaning. It's more for the kids, getting them ready for Raya is of utmost importance rather than focusing on myself (zaman dah berlalu - ye ke?). When I was a kid, Raya means new clothes (bestnyer), duit raya (best jugak), enjoying lemang ketupat rendang with family (the ultimate), seeking forgiveness (reflection time), mercun mercun mercun (bukan yg buat sendiri) and lots of posing in front of the camera! Raya means FUN FUN FUN! I want my kids to enjoy their Hari Raya as much as I had back then. For this year's Raya, we have yet to buy their Baju Melayu (we always buy them from a shop named 'BAK' in Jalan TAR), but Mr. AKO had bought them some new clothes from his trips to HK. It was the sales season in HK so he was happy! Managed to get discounts! Ini penting ya kawan-kawan kerana haruslah membuat budget coz anak ramai nih.. ha ha

Raya clothes for Baby Azan

For my Superheroes... aiyooo.. cam kedai baju la pulak..

Oh.. Apa ni? Untuk saya pun ada ke? Ish Ish.. Susah susah aje. Apa ni?

Yeayyyyy... Saya suka... Tima Kacih!

No baju Raya for Mummy and Daddy yet, that can wait lah. Hmmnnn...

Food Galore

What's Ramadhan in Malaysia without heaps and heaps of food? Here's a pic of my mom's dining table, taken last Sunday where a whole bunch of us break fasted together-gether.

Seriously, such gluttony!
Ahaks.

Family First

Just finished washing up after sahur. Our bersahur session comprised of four persons. Namely Mr. AKO, my grandma, my eldest (Q), and yours truly. My son does not like to eat rice for sahur, he will take bread and Milo, his usual breakfast staple. Alhamdulillah, Q is able to fast without any problems. He was also not bothered when his younger bros eat and drink in front of him during the day. In school, during morning break and lunchtime, the teachers brought him and his fasting friends to the surau or the library.

Some people observed that it is easier to train girls to fast. But I cannot make any comparison lah, he he. Q started fasting when he was 5. It started off as half day fasting. I remembered he fasted whole day for 7 days then. When he was six, it grew to 19 days. This Ramadhan, hopefully the days will increase. For me, it's important to not push them, rather just encourage them. My Ammar who is 5 years old, is not ready to fast ("Mummy, saya tak boleh la puasa sebab saya kecik lagi nanti saya 7 years old saya puasa ok Mummy"), but everyday I will tell him about kelebihan berpuasa, kenapa kita berpuasa, and I am confident in due time he will want to fast just like his big brother.

Mr. AKO, as a bonus to Q, would bring him to the Bazaar Ramadhan every evening.

And me, so far I am able to still fully breastfeed Azan without any problems while fasting. Alhamdulillah. Okay peps, that's all for now, see ya next time ya!

Wishing U Well

My kakak ipar kesayangan (ah-ha, u cannot call me biased as I only have ONE kakak ipar..eh he) and her hubby is at this present time performing their Umrah. They went off on the first of Ramadhan and will be back after 2 weeks. Alhamdulillah, they are presented with this opportunity to perform the umrah in the holy month of Ramadhan. Hopefully everything's going great for them over there.

Run Forrest Run

This entry is not about Forrest Gump, it's not about any sporting events either. Rather, it's about running maidens... errkkk if u can call them that la... maidens sound like helpless young girls from the bygone area... my story is about my Runaway Maid. So it's more of a Running Bit** la okay... Pardon the colourful and very expressive word but I'm entitled to let off some steam in this blog kan?

My maid ran away after only 5 months of service. Left around sebelum subuh, abt 5 o'clock in the morning, my grandma deduced as she heard the back door creaked open at that hour but thought nothing of it (it was an unusual hour for the maid to start her day but well... grandma thought she terlebih rajin that particular morning).

An hour later, my grandma went up to my room and said, "Si Yatik dah takde, dia dah lari agaknya Dikwi". I blinked and blinked and blinked like a total idiot, tucked the blanket snugly around my baby, went down and went to the back of the house. The door to the drying area was open, and the back door's padlock was unlocked - confirming that my grandma's words were true. I am maidless... again. Second time this year, and I wept. I cursed. And wept again.

Mr. AKO was not around at that time, still in HK.

Being maidless when u have 3 young boys and a baby is no joke. I am near to collapsing at the end of each day. Sangat memenatkan fizikal dan mental.

Apa lagi yang dapat dikatakan, terpaksa uruskan pengambilan pembantu yang baru. Ia akan memakan masa.

In the meantime, pray for me okay.

Oh and, Happy Ramadhan.

2 Orang Budak Itu

Some people observed that I have not been updating on my two eldest boys for quite some time. I have to agree with that, even 2 orang budak yang dimaksudkan itu have been nagging me tirelessly as of why I haven't 'tempek' their pics like the SpongeBob Blog (referring to my Superheroes and Mom blog). So I went.... 'Oooookay'lah anak-anakku, jantung pisangku sekalian...

TA DAA..

My Motormouth Darling, dressed like Tunku Abdul Rahman Bapa Kemerdekaan. Pic taken just this morning before he was off to his kindy for a "MERDEKA PARTY".

My Hensem Boy, who lost his front tooth last Friday but as of this morning refused to pose with his mouth open, so cannot show u the 'kerongakan'.

Growing up fast they are. My babies turning into little men. How time flies.

3 Months Old

Lamanya tak meng'update' blog. Been bz, very cliche but yeah it's true. Wish there's more than 24 hours in a day. But let's not dwell on that.

My sweet bubur chacha is already 3 months old now. Am enjoying him very much, he is such a little smiler and his coos and gurgles makes my heart leaps up in happiness!

Goodbye Sister

Last Friday, after Maghrib prayers, marked the demise of my grand-aunt, the younger sister of my maternal grandma. It saddens me to see my grandma's face crumpled after I broke the news to her.

'I'm alone now. I'm the only one still living. All my siblings gone, gone.' I took both her hands in my hands and no words escaped my numb lips as I stared down on her sejadah. I wanted to somehow give her strength to overcome her grief; though I know she is a much more stronger woman than I would ever hoped to be. She had survived the death of 3 children and a husband. And now she has to say goodbye to her one remaining sister.

We drove to her hometown of Rasa, Ulu Selangor that night to congregate at Arwah Wan Su's house, where other relatives were already busy taking care of things. Arwah was brought to the burial grounds the next day, close to noon on Saturday.

I remember Wan Su as a woman with few words but strong and resilient, having successfully raised 10 children. Wan Su passed away peacefully Alhamdulillah with all her loved ones around her. May Allah bless her soul. Amiin.

Crash and Burn

Sorry I have not been updating as frequently. Many reasons why. I have crashed my darling Dell lappy, so have been using Mr. AKO's Toshiba. Managed to ruin that also and for the past week have been using Mr. AKO's VAIO. The thing is, eventho it's a VAIO, it runs on a snail pace. Man, what's that all about eh?

Haven't sent my lovely pinky Dell for some TLC yet. God, how I miss my own computer.

Sigh Sigh Sigh.

Good Old SP

No no no, SP stands for Subang Parade, not Sungai Petani (though I do enjoy visiting the latter too). As a girl born and bred in Petaling Jaya, my earliest fondest memories of childhood apart from playing chase with my friends at "Padang Bomb", were the trips to the shopping complex. Most frequented was the Jaya Supermarket at Section 14 which was at that time considered 'THE' place to shop, where we can find the first Cold Storage in Malaysia. Not forgetting the coveted Kathy's Toy Store where we bugged our parents countless times to get what our hearts desired. Another place was the shopping complex in Ampang (Ampang Park), where there was an indoor theme park, where I spent many happy moments jumping on the inflatables. Of course its not as state of the art as the likes of Cosmo's World etc that we have today, but it was the coolest once upon a time.

But all in all, my favourite was and still is Subang Parade. Still remember the first store to operate there was McDonalds. SP opened its doors in the year 1988, when I was in Form 1. SP witnessed my growing up in the teenage years and it is the main hangout point for the kids within the Petaling/Subang vicinity. It's the place where I had my first date (ha ha ha), also where many birthdays etc were celebrated both with friends and family. And.... it's also the place where I had my first official date with my hubby! There was once a cinema there too and it was the place to be spotted and do some 'cuci mata'.

Within the 20 years of its operation, it had undergone changes in management, changes of tenants and the most recent renovation took place in 2006 where it was revamped to give it a more modern and appealing look. Back in its hey day in the early 1990's, it was the longest shopping mall in South-east Asia! Although it no longer holds that title, SP will forever have a special place in my heart. I H.E.A.R.T SP. Oh God, is there such a thing as a love affair with a shopping mall?

Now, I go to SP on a weekly basis, latest was last night where we brought Baby Azan for his first visit to the sacred ground tee hee hee. And it was the first time I used the fairly new Baby Room in Parkson. Verdict? Good place to feed the babe, the room was bright with cheerful colours and the air conditioning could be felt. Good good. Good old SP ey? Makan ice-cream kat Baskin Robbins cam biasa jugak.

Oh. And I bought new spectacles. I lost/misplaced my last one. I know....again! Apa Nak Buat-lah. I will collect it later today. Let's pray I will not lose this one for let's say.... 10 years? He he

Ok. Bye for now people!

Cookies and Scones

The house smells nice today, I did a bit of baking following Ammar's request for chocolate chip cookies. It turned out crunchy and not too sweet, much to my liking. The boys gobbled them with milk, me with horlicks (ahha, unlikely combi). It would hv tasted better if I add in chopped roasted walnuts though but I was afraid the boys would blahh them if I did. But I did add in some Nestum.

Last Sunday I decided to bake scones as I had an intense desire to relive my afternoon tea when I was in Edinburgh. Kemaruk lah orang kata. The scone recipe is a little bit different from the usual plain scone recipe, as Philadelphia Cream Cheese was added to the dough. So my hubby said it tasted a wee bit like bagels with cream cheese. Ha ha. I thought the taste was nice albeit a bit too crispy (my fault! I know better next time). Had the scones with cream and raspberry jam. Yumm! Freshly baked, the aroma was irresistable. Coupled with Twining's Lady Grey tea. MMmmmmmm...

Tried to cajole my boys to eat them.... EEEkkkk Yucky was their answer! NYAMPAH!

Mission Accomplished

A week ago I attended a college reunion held at a well known hotel in the outskirts of the city. It was a sweet affair, I felt that we have not been apart at all. We fell back into easy conversations, happy just to be in each others' company. It was not at all awkward, in the contrary, it was a splendid night. Good food, great company, full of laughter, pleasant banterings and lots of catching up! Although I have not seen most of them for more than 8 - 9 years,in my eyes they looked the same. They will forever be 24 to me. Funny, but thats how I feel. 6 years we spent together, at the phase where we turned from teenagers to adults. From Cheras to the United Kingdom and back to Malaysia. Most of us are mommies and daddies now, I can hardly believe it myself.

At the time of the reunion, Baby Azan was 46 days old. I brought him along to the hotel, with the voluntary babysitter of the night of course. Who else but Mr. AKO. The plan was for Mr. AKO to babysit the baby while I reminisce about the olden days with my beloved friends. The idea was for Mr. AKO to sms me when the baby needs to be fed, so I can just take the elevator up to the room and breastfeed the babe. Little did I know that he would be sending me 'RED ALERT' messages EVERY 40 minutes! I rushed up like a madwoman everytime and fed him while dear Mr. AKO watched the LCD television while eating lamb chop! The unfairness of it all! Grrr..

Hee hee. No lah I was not mad, just amused. And I was in such a jolly good mood to see my old friends again so it wasn't a problem at all. Oh. But I didn't get to stuff myself silly at the buffet table. Too bad. And I didn't get to mingle as much as I planned to. But all in all it was allright. I was happy. The baby was happy and the daddy was happy. So, mission accomplished :-)

I managed to snap some pics of the little cutie and his babysitter in the hotel room. The bed was real comfy.

Babysitter turned Mr. Boss

Catching Up

Brought Baby Azan to Dr. Patrick earlier today. Told him that I thought Azan had a blocked nose due to the sounds I could hear emitting, eventhough there was no mucous or anything coming out from his nose. After checking, I was told he hasn't got the flu, blocked nose or anything of the sort. He convinced me the snuffles occured because the nose bridge of most young babies are low and the snuffling noise is caused by air tying to pass through the very small nasal passage. He clarified that the lining of the baby's nose is very sensitive and sneezes and snuffles we hear are essential to clear out the nasal passages and prevent dust from getting into the lungs.

Azan was weighed also and he has gained another kilogram, he is now 5.7 kg. Not bad eh? Who says mother's milk is not enough to nurture a babe. InsyaAllah, memang mencukupi dan lengkap untuk keperluan bayi.

My three older boys are growing rapidly too. They are fast catching up with me. Soon, they will all be taller than mommy. Ekkkk, not only am I the only female in this family, it seems that I am the only 'smurf' too. Tsk. Thank God for high heels and platforms, at least I will not look too dwarfy. Err, I HOPE.

We love coconut milk

There's no denying it, we Malaysians love 'santan'. The sweet, white milky cooking base derived from the flesh of a mature coconut. Coconut milk can be either used thick or thin and available even in frozen and canned form. Its widely used as an ingredient to most Southeast Asia's cuisine. Though it is said to have high oil and sugar content, it is also known to be antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal (yup, for real!).

As a true blue Malaysian, I too love my santan. Who can say no to a creamilicious masak lemak cili api eh? And the mouth watering cendol, yummeh!

So this morning, I found myself drawn towards the stall at the pasar pagi near my house, to say good morning to Pak Chu Nasi Lemak to get my dose of that fragrant rice cooked with the heavenly santan, accompamied by sambal kerang, fried anchovies and peanuts with cucumber on the side. Right after I am done blogging, picture me seated in my sunny kitchen, indulging myself with my banana leaf wrapped Nasi Lemak, and sipping my hot tea. Join me?

Home Alone

Remember McCauly Culkin as a kid. Very very cute. The adult Culkin is di sebaliknya in my opinion, langsung tak cute. Its tragic the way many child stars become a has been when they are in their teens. Many fell victim to drugs, booze and whatnot. To be fair, many outside factors contributed to their downfall but in the end its their own stupidity it happened the way it did. I believe everybody have a choice, and what one chooses makes a difference.

Oh my goodness... apa yang I melalut ni.

I just wanted to say that I feel very much alone as Mr. AKO is off to Hong Kong again. Sigh. Funny how I feel like patah sebelah tangan when he is not around. Actually, come to think of it.... betul lah kan as I 'tak cukup tangan' (short handed?) with my four Superheroes nih.

I am so sedih as it seems like my 3rd son's skin will never be eczema free. The experts repeatedly told me it will stop in its own time but WHEN? 2-3 years time? When he's in secondary school, or college? No definite answer to that and that makes it even more frustrating. Now the skin breakouts are becoming more severe and nasty. Rasa nak menangis everytime I look at him.

Imagine not being comfortable in your own skin. Kesian my Adam.

Wild and Free

Hello, have not been updating for quite some time, suddenly I have a gazillion things to do eversince I was done with my confinement. In this modern era, berpantang is not what it used to be. Even though I held on to the 40 days, I was not totally house bound. Within that period, I was out to the hospital three times, to Tesco once, to Azfar's school's Charity Bazaar, drove Azfar to music sessions twice, drove Ammar to kindy twice and ahmmnn.... that little trip to Sunway Pyramid once ;-) And as for just duduk and berbaring and bertungku and berstokin and jalan pelan pelan like Jepun? I discovered that highly IMPOSSIBBLE even LAUGHABLE with 3 boisterous boys and a baby in the house.

Well, that's over and done with. TUTUP BUKU on berpantang.

Let's take a peek at my labu lemak manis. He is sometimes seen berbaring atas katil like the pics below. Most of the time he can be seen attached to my chest. Adoi.

My three elder sons love this little baby. Azfar and Ammar will search for him first thing when they come home from school. And my third son Adam will place his favourite Ultraman figure next to the baby so that brother Azan can play with it. Oh the sweet and best things in life....... are free!
