Dazzle

Been toying around with the idea of a new stroller for BabyAzan. Been using Ammar's 5 year old stroller for the past 6 months, time to put it to rest after 5 years of hard service. The front wheels have gone cranky so it is perfectly justifiable to get a new one. *cough cough*

After buying 3 strollers in the past (2 Combi and 1 MacLaren), I wanted to try a different brand. It has to be of good quality as it will be carrying 'precious cargo' plus it will be put to use for at least 4 years. It has to be light but sturdy, must be easily portable, needs to be easily opened and closed and also, pleasing to the eye and manouvres easily. Hmmmnnnnn.......

I like the Silver Cross Dazzle. But which colour?
Silver Cross Dazzle Strollers in Grape, Cosmic Black, Blueberry, Pumpkin, Silver Grey and Fern
PUMPKIN maybe?

I'm loving the Dazzle! Go t0 Silver Cross for info on it's great products.

Lovely Lazy Sunday

I had a really lovely Sunday yesterday. Been awhile since I had that kind of Sunday. All thanks to Bibik Adah, who now takes over the nitty gritty part of housekeeping from me. It's a huge weight off my shoulders, and at long last I can begin to relax again (a bit).

Prepared brunch for Mr. AKO and myself, toasted pitta bread with a fusion concoction of corned beef and baked beans ala chilli con carne. Chocolate muffin as a side dish. Hmmmm..... it was fulfilling and wholesome.

Had a late lunch with the kids, too lazy to cook. A&W was a hit with the boys. Spent the day just chilling with the boys, drove around just for a little sightseeing. Later at night, after the boys went to sleep, Mr. AKO and I 'cozy-cozy' watched Mamma Mia. He He. Had a wee snack of raisin scones, Reese's peanut butter cups and Earl Grey. Ahhhh... this is the life-lah.

Oh. Mr. AKO lovingly cooked me something sangat sedap. Here. Gourmet Maggi Mee :-D
What a lovely lovely Sunday. I swear I went off to sleep smiling :-D

6 Months Old

BabyAzan @ 6 months. He has managed to 'meniarap' all by himself 2 days ago! Finally! Hip Hip Hooray to Azan :-D

BabyAzan's first lepak session @ Starbucks with Mummy. Alas, he was sleeping the whole duration we were there. Check out his hair. He He. Uneven length throughout. I have been advised to have it cropped. Nahhhh.... I love the virgin baby hair. So soft and silky and smells so nice.
Mummy's Rocky Road indulgence. Yummmm.
Mummy's Ice-blended Toffee Nut Latte. Sedap. Mr. AKO's Mocha Latte. Of course with cream!

*All piccies taken using Mr. AKO's iphone.

Ammar's Concert 2008

Ammar's Annual Concert cum Sports Day (Annual Family Day) was two weeks ago. It was held at the school compound itself (will suggest to the teachers for a different venue next year). It was a real fun event although I had to leave early, I missed the Sports part as I had to dash home for BabyAzan. Mr.AKO swapped with me. I took the first half and him the second half of the event (masa tu xde bibik lagi, sbb tu gilir2) ;-D

Ammar before he was off to the school, posing habis. Ikut sapa la agaknya?

Ammar and Mummy

Board (Bored?!) Games

Hiya readers :)
Thanks for visiting. I really appreciate it.

It's only the very beginning of the looooong end of year school hols but I have already played THREE rounds of Snake & Ladder (and that's today only). Haiyoh, how? Q , being Q will always insist to be the first to throw the dice, no chance for all the rest to be first. Ammar doesn't take losing lightly, he will put on his angry face and sulk.  Adam reeeaally slows the game down because his 'teddy bear' will be throwing the dice for him (this involved the process of him putting the dice between the teddy's hands, him rolling around in excitement seeing that the teddy is 'holding' the dice and everyone peering here there and everywhere for the dice as he, or rather 'teddy' had thrown it too far). Once it was under the tv cabinet, way at the very baaaaccck of the tv cabinet. Another time, it rolled down the stairs. And yet another time, it was flung into the laundry basket and I had to take out all the folded clothes to search  for the dice. Mind you, this is the miniature Snake & Ladder game set (bought it for RM2.99) so you can imagine how small the dice is.

The rest of the time, they occupy themselves playing PS2 and Nintendo DS (did I mention Mr. AKO bought 2 new DSs from Hk, so now there's 3! Agak melampau juga-lah), and watched TV. Last year's end of year hols I have drawn up a timetable for them to follow; whereby the first half of the day we engaged in Arts & Crafts, Story Time and doing various worksheets. The later part of the day I would bring them out to the playground, bring them to the shops or simply play mega blocks together. It was nice.

This year, I couldn't carry those activities out as I am so occupied with BabyAzan (who is still fully BFed), and furthermore now I'm only left with one maid. And it's only her second day pulak tu today so I am also busy showing her the ropes. Sorry boys. I feel a bit guilty for letting the electronic gadgets 'babysit' them. I am trying to convince myself that it's okay, there are some educational elements involved while playing Mario Kart, Kung Fu Panda and Super Mario :-s

Haihhh.... not easy being a mother. Always thinking
Am I doing the right thing?
Am I doing the wrong thing?
Should it be this way?
Should it be that way?
Should I be more strict?
Should I be more lenient?
How to divide my time between the four of them?
Should I punish, should I reward?
Would it be better if I do it like this or maybe like that?
and on and on and on.
The sure fire question which always popped into my mind, "Am I being a good mother?" is alwaaaaays haunting me.

High-strung kah saya ni?
Harapnya tidak. If not I will have to take the likes of the Dopamine pills again. TAK MAO!

(But if I have to play Snake & Ladder again for 3 times tomorrow, I will pop the pills myself willingly, heh heh). Joooooking Mr. AKO, relaaaax.

Dia Datang

The long awaited Suadah is finally here. As far as first days go, hers went quite allright (to me-lah). This is her first time in Malaysia and working as a domestic helper. She have lots to learn. I, on the other hand, must maintain my calm and not let my tempestuous self do any irreparable damage. Must remember everything is new to her. A whole different country, strange surroundings, unfamiliar faces, lain loghat bahasa. I must be patient. Ingat. Ingat. Dia biasa masak dapur kayu. Pakai lampu minyak tanah. Ingat tu. Give her time.

I hope she will get along with the kids well. That's the most important thing to me. If not, everything will spiral downwards from there. She has a daughter herself. So far, I can see that she likes children. Setakat ini, Alhamdulillah. Doakan untuk saya ye?

At least, for now, my days of cleaning the toilets are over :D

WHHHOOAAAA!!!!!

Faridah is my little sis and I love her to pieces (I love you too Meme). I love patent leather. I love glossy things. I love bags. And what do you know, here is a bag by MbMJ called The Faridah Shoulder Bag in high gloss patent leather! It has a single shoulder strap that is very practical, and silver hardware. It goes without saying, "I have got to have it!"

Soft as a Baby's Bottom

I was introduced to some really fabulous baby products e-store by my friend recently. I have never used cloth diapers for any of my babes before but these modern-day ones got me really excited!  They come in various attractive colors and designs. Cloth diapers are soft against baby's skin and make less of a footprint in our planet, real environmental friendly. You know how disposables though real easy to use made our baby's bottoms more prone to nappy rash. And they come with real absorbent inserts so it's guaranteed to be leak free. Although they are a bit pricey, but in the long run if you do the math, it really is economical.

Flamingo OS Pocket
Look, so cute! Of course I will not buy this pink one for BabyAzan. I just couldn't resist putting this pink one up because it's so pretty!

Dalmation AI2
And here is the one with Dalmation design.

And more more more..
Huh! Got you interested too no? Hee Hee. Go to Lil Danzell, Mia Bambina and Tiny Tapir.

Babywearing

Recently there was an article in one of the national newspaper about babywearing. There were huge pictures of trendy moms and dads carrying their babes in even trendier baby slings/pouches. Now babywearing is the latest trend. It's HOT, it's IN. Moms and Dads who use the babyslings are seen cool and hip people.

As I remembered, 8 years ago when I had my first son, ramai orang kita yang tidak mahu anaknya digendong dengan cara ini. Macam kuno-lah. Macam malu-lah. Macam tak happening-lah. Admittedly,I was one of those people ;-D

When I had my second son, my maid at that time started to 'gendong' my babe. Though I was skeptical at first, I eventually relented seeing how the baby looked very contented and slept so soundly being 'gendong-ed'. My maid gendong my babe many times while accompanying me to hypermarkets and running errands. Banyaklah mata-mata yang memandang dengan pandangan sinis. I pun masa tu terasa macam had to prove a point pulak, weiii I'm not kuno okay! What was funny was how I made sure I wore branded items *cringe* and spoke accented English to show to people that I did not come from the boondocks of Malaysia. God, was I paranoid! And shamefully kind of shallow jugak kan? But I'm sure many of you out there sometimes act silly too. Then termalu sendirilah.

When I had my third baby, baby slings began to have it's own followers. At that time finally we have a variety of attractive baby slings from My Gendong (still exist ke tak?), Little Haven , Baby Loft and a few other online stores from Singapore. I remembered buying mine from Rita Rahayu of Mom's Little Ones. I began to learn how to wear my baby. It was so very very awkward at first. Coudn't get the position right after so many tries, started to feel kind of dumb also (aikkk, the bibik senang aje boleh buat, haku tak dapek jugak?). I managed to get it in the end. But most of the time, bibik would be the one to gendong the babe.

If you have been following my blog, you would know that I currently do not have a bibik and have been maidless for two months now. Apart from taking care of my baby, there are my three other heroes as well AND the husband. My hands are full. So, I now declare the baby sling as one of the most genius creation in baby world. It keeps my hands free so that I can do other things while carrying Baby Azan. It comforts and soothes the baby. It helps the baby go to sleep. Now, I am an expert in the arts of babywearing. The only position I have not tried is the back carry as the baby needs to be a little bit older for that.

But................. my new bibik will be arriving next week. Maybe I shouldn't have to learn the back carry after all :-P

Babywearing/menggendong is the bomb peeps! Try it. Don't be disheartened if u fail at first. Try again and again till u get the groove right. Okay?

Above, pics of me menggendong BabyAzan with my 3 year old baby sling. Time to order a new one. Hmmnnn... ok then peeps. I have to shop for a new one now! Excited ni!

Giant Tart ?!

My Mr. AKO is a die-hard fan of pineapple tarts. Every Raya I will make sure there's enough pineapple tarts to last him the whole Syawal month. He will be munching 'em while watching ESPN, he will be munching 'em while reading the newspapers, he will be munching 'em while doing nothing and he will be munching 'em the most when he is talking to me (or rather listening to me yakking) maybe because the munching action might make him appear more interested in what I was saying? Or it stops him from yawning away? Hmmnnn.... this is it then after 9 years of marriage eh? The tarts become the subject of desire. Ha Ha. *ehem mr ako, u better deny this tau, or else tido kat sofa he he*

Anyway, my bro drove me to the neighbourhood shops earlier and I asked him to go to the bakery to get my pastry fix. The shop's name is Chocolate Nice, they do sell tasty cakes. Then I saw these bigger than usual sized pineapple tarts, 6 in a box and priced RM4 per box. I just had to buy 'em and taste 'em and post the photo in my blog so that Mr. AKO who is currently in HK will drool and be miserable... ha ha ha.... wicked wife I am.

The tarts taste real sedap, it melts in the mouth. The filling mmmmmm....delicious. I already ngap ngap ngap 2 of 'em and plans to ngap ngap ngap later right before I go to bed.

Right, now let's look at my apple crumble. He is much better today, the coughing not so bad anymore. Today, he had been hard at work, trying to turn himself over. Just a tiny bit more and he will be able to roll on his stomach all on his own. Keep up the good work Azan! If I put him on his stomach, he is able to turn on his back with ease, this he mastered last week already.
I tried numerous times today to capture his motion while he was trying to rollover but to no avail. The minute he sensed the camera's presence, he would turn on his back again while looking at me imploringly as if saying "Oh mum, please let me be. I am working here".
Oh well, budak-budak zaman sekarang. More updates on his rolling over efforts in coming posts ok peeps.

Today is Wednesday, Mr. AKO will only be back on Sunday. Lamanya lagi. Sigh.

Wassup Y'all?

Hello All! How are u guys doing? Feeling Good?
This is me @ 5 months.
Here is my bro, Adam. He's an Oakley Ambassador ;-)
Doesn't he look cool?

WARNA 08 November

*Taken from www.warna.com.my

Warna 2008 is an art exhibition that will showcase artworks by five of Malaysia's prominent expressionist artists.

Date: 11 - 13 November 2008
Time: 1.00 pm to 8.00 pm
Venue: Hong Kong Central Library,
Exhibition Gallery 1, 2 & 3
66, Causeway Road, Causeway Bay,
Hong Kong SAR

FOREWORD

It is an honor for us to present WARNA 2008, a Malaysian contemporary art exhibition in Hong Kong 2008.

The idea of WARNA has been circulating in our minds for quite sometime now. We have always been a fan of arts, especially contemporary arts in form of painting, sculpture, photography and others.

It is true, in this days and age; the people of today accept things that are out of the norm with alacrity. Modern arts are interesting. No two men can possibly come up with the same interpretation towards abstract arts concurrently. That is what makes modern art interesting. It challenges the mind. And the beauty of it is that, people can talk about a piece of modern art for years to come.

We perceive modern art as fascinating. And as we mull upon such a notion everyday (with the idea of how to bring about WARNA still in head), numerous non-figurative vibes usurped into our senses- mesmerize, captivate, enthrall, intrigue, beguile, entice and more.

We are thrilled to have conceived WARNA because we believe that this could be the platform for Malaysian artists to promote their works internationally. We understand the importance of art development in Malaysia and its effect to the future of Malaysian art and so, WARNA is our initiative in helping out the Malaysian art scene.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude towards the artists; Yusof Ghani, Awang Damit, Fauzulyusri, Daud Rahim and Jamil Mat Isa for making the first installment of WARNA possible.

We sincerely hope WARNA 2008 in Hong Kong will spark the interest on Malaysian contemporary arts from the art enthusiasts in Hong Kong and thus expanding the promotion of the Malaysian contemporary artists in the region.

Clicking from my old room.

Me and my boys are currently crashing at my parents'. Mr.AKO will be in  HK till the 15th. Don't think I can survive all on my own at my own casa without any adult help. Have been here since Sunday. Basking in the comfort of my childhood bedroom, mom's cooking and extra help from Tina, my mom's house help.

Poor BabyAzan is down with flu. His first experience. His fever had subsided but he is still coughing, mostly due to the phlegm. Apart from that he is still the cheerful little baby, crying only when he had to take his meds. Really hope he will get well soon.

Another week left before the school hols. I am anticipating my house abuzz with activities. Am trying to prepare myself mentally and physically on the oncoming onslaught. Ha ha ha.

Mr. AKO mentioned that we would probably head off to the east next week. Yeayy! And rumour has it that there will be a happy occasion in the north nearing the end of the year. Looking forward to that. Oh, there's Azfar's birthday too to think about early December. Hmmnnnn... I have to put on my thinking cap now. Excuse me, minta diri dulu-lah.

Good Luck Warna

Little Sis will be off to HK tomorrow for the 2nd installation of WARNA 2008. Mr. AKO will follow suit on Sunday. All the best to them and the WARNA team. May it be a sold-out event, Amiin.

And let's hope that these two remember to bring me Krispy Kremes.  Dua Tiga kotak cukup ah. He He. The last time I had KK was when I went to Dubai last year. Lama dah, mengidam ni.

Don't forget eh you two.

Damsel In Need Of Drama

Beware!

This is gonna be a self centred and whiny post.
Full of I Want. I Need.

I need a haircut. Badly. And while at it, might as well throw in some lux hair treatment and highlights. I want to spend 5 hours at the hair salon giving TLC to my overstressed roots and neglected tresses.

I need a facial. Hopefully a facial treatment that will NOT cause allergic reaction to my skin. I want that diamond peel, micro-dermabration treatment that will get rid of all my dead cells and gazillion whiteheads and blackheads. I want my complexion to be glowing, brighter, polished. And while at it, might as well get the eyelash extension done. Oh, and some coloured contacts. Will try the grey ones this time around.

I want a mani-pedi. The whole works. Let my tired feet and hands get the attention they deserved. They work hard. Time for them to get pampered. Time for them to be loved. And while at it, might as well get a Brazilian. Errrr, maybe not. Ouch. Just get bikini wax maybe? We'll see.

I want a coffee scrub. Preferably at a spa in Bali. And while at it, might as well get the mandi lulur and susu too. A massage will not be half bad either. Mmmmm, can almost smell the heavenly scent of jasmine and frangipani.

I need and want a tete-a-tete with Mr. AKO. A whole day, undisturbed. With nothing to distract us. Just the two of us, enjoying one another's company. Having free flowing intimate conversation, hopefully with free flowing desserts too. Ha ha.

That's it. I don't think that's too much to ask for. Do you?

Tantrum!

Arrrghhhhh... I'm sick of being stuck at the seafood restaurant in Diner Dash!!!! I hate the Cellphone Addicts who make my life hell, driving my customers away with their non-stop whingeing. I can't be taking order, serving food, collecting the tabs, cleaning-up, seating the guests while at the same time giving out complimentary drinks and popcorn. Don't even get me started on the mopping part,  I would go stark raving MAD.
I.Want.Out.
Geram!

My fish curry did not turn out well today. The fact that I used santan kotak did not help matters. My curry was too runny, the fish used not so fresh. I did not put in garlic as I didn't have any and was too lazy to go out and get them. And it tasted sweet. Kinda. No, I did not put in sugar if that's what you are thinking. EEEsshhhh.... In short, it was blahhh.
Mr. AKO said I *drama*.
Eh?

And also, got an email informing me that my domestic helper will arrive on the 20th December AT THE EARLIEST! What about AT THE LATEST? + 2 weeks more-lah from the 20th tu. As far as I'm concerned, the latter usually happens.
Apa Nak Jadi?

Right now I feel like PMS. No, I'm not having my menses.

Little Pinky Missy

Psssttttt...
Kotak apa ni? Alah, tak payah berteka-teki sebab sudah jelas tertera gambar dan nama bende yang dimaksudkan. he he he.

Nintendo DS Lite saya yang berwarna merah jambu. he he he.
Di bawah ini, 'pouch' khas untuk Little Pinky Missy saya. he he he. Adik saya yang menghadiahkan pada saya. Pouch itu je, DS nye tidak. DS itu si jantung hati saya yang hadiahkan.
Apabila pouch dibuka, ta daaaa..... itulah dia penghibur hati saya. Sangat comel, cantik dan amat menyeronokkan. he he he.
Dan ini pula bila saya dah 'on'kan dia. Saya sangat suka main game 'Cooking Mama'. he he he.
Jika anda ingin mengetahui perihal Nintendo DS Lite ini, silalah ke sini. Mana tau, anda pula akan menjadi pemilik si cilik hebat ini. he he he.

Maaf, banyak sangat he he he dalam tulisan saya kali ini. Saya sangat excited. Itulah sebabnya.

Sendiri

Mr. AKO is off to JB, coordinating the final preparations for M2K. He went on the 8.30 am flight this morning. He will be there the WHOLE week. Sigh.......

Azfar is having his final exams this week. From today till Thursday. I just hope he will do his level best.

Ammar is already at his Kindy. Mostly, they are busy rehearsing for their annual concert.

Adam is still sleeping.

Azan is already awake and no doubt looking for me.

So I have to go now.

Later ppl...

In The Name Of Law

What's with me and cheesy titles eh? He he..

Seronok ni as my In Laws are here. Ma and Bak came last night. They brought homegrown jackfruit and papaya. Also a big big plastic bag filled with 'kerpok keping'. Now that I am married to a Terengganu guy, I am very aware of the different qualities of the fish crackers. The tasty ones only come from Terengganu and nowhere else, I swear. I really detest the ones that make the insides of the mouth 'gatal' (itchy). Have u ever been unfortunate enough to experience that? Well, let's hope u will never okay. Buy the crackers from Terengganu, u will be safe then.

Oh, and... Bak bought us durians today. Azfar and Ammar and Adam crowded around Bak when he  was busy opening up the King of Fruits. They were verbally trying to outdo one another as to who can eat the most durians.

"Aki, saya nak durian. Saya boleh makan banyak tau Aki. Kat sekolah hari tu pun saya ada makan durian. Teacher saya bawak." ~Ammar~

"Tak la Aki, Ammar tak makan banyak durian. SAYA yang boleh. Saya nak banyak banyak sgt durian Aki sebab saya dah 8 years old dah besar boleh makan banyak." ~Azfar Q~

"Oh oh oh Mummy... I want 'du ree yen'. Oh oh oh, it's so tajam Mummy, oh it's scary!" ~Adam~

And this went on and on for a bit , right until Bak had completed taking out all the isi durian. He then put 3 ulas durian on 3 plastic plates and gave it to the boys. Sapa juara?

Azfar and Ammar only managed seulas seorang and Adam, none at all. Hehhh, cakap je banyak.

All I Do Is Dream....

Today's menu is chicken. I will only post the pic of the chicken lah, the vege dish is only steamed broccoli so you don't have to look at that kan. Hmmnnn.... I don't know what to call this chicken dish to be honest so I will just come up with one name.

AYAM MASAK BERANGAN
Why ayam masak berangan? I guess it's due to the fact that I just main campak-campak aje ingredients dia, all the while I was daydreaming about things. Hence the name. Appropriate kan.

Jom makan!

The Talc Story

Something unexpected happened today, just 10 minutes ago in fact. As I was tidying up the kitchen I went to check on Adam, as it was unusual for him to be so quiet. I found him in the guest room, happily pouring talcum powder all over himself and the guest bed, also the floor.

"Mummy, look at me. Saya sangat wangg-gee."

Aduh la. But that was not what I meant by the unexpected. After changing Adam's clothes, Baby Azan fussed wanting to be fed. While I was feeding him, Azfar came in the room with a broom in his right hand and the dust-pan in his left.

"Mummy, look at this mess Adam made. So naughty. Habis dah rumah kita sepah."
Sweep Sweep Sweep.

"Mummy kan tengah nenen Baby Azan and kita kan dah takde bibik kan."
Sweep Sweep Sweep.

And he swept the mess and continued to sweep near the front door too; as apparently there ada a bit of the bedak tumpah jugak. After he was satisfied with his work, he went to the waste basket and poured what was in the dust-pan in the basket. He then went to put the broom and the dust-pan at the proper place.

I was amazed.
I was overwhelmed.
I thank God for all the little things in life that make me happy.

I then went to Azfar and gave him a great big hug for being so thoughtful when I least expected.

My hero of the day

Parang Oh Parang

Let's look at today's menu

Mr. AKO bought Ikan Parang yesterday. My Malaccan born and bred friend CikYah once mentioned that the best fish for assam pedas is Ikan Parang. Here's a pic of my Assam Pedas Ikan Parang for your viewing pleasure. The pic was taken when it's still on the stove.

Vege dish for today, Baby Sawi with Fishball and Mushroom. I like carrots to be cut that way as I prefer eating big chunks of it rather than teeny bitsy pieces but I have to cut it up for Adam's consumption.

And of course... fried fish. The boys could never have enough of them. That's all for today. Ta Ta.

Food Post

For today, I prepared Ayam Masak Lemak Cili Api with Potatoes and Cherry Tomatoes. Have not cooked masak lemak for so long, not since my maid ran away. For the previous Ramadhan month, all makanan beli aje. But today, I resolved I will not be too stringent on the housekeeping as to have time to enable my boys to have real home-cooked meals again - not just all the instant ready to cook variety which is high in salt and preservatives.

Next is very simple, just Ikan Goreng but this is the boys' favourite, but the fish must be piping hot, straight from the wok to their plates. Haaa... you will then see they will tambah nasi. As my husband is from Terengganu, we eat a lot of fish. When we go back to his hometown, I love to go to the morning market as there are various scrumptious seafood inc fish, fresh from the sea.  Oh so fresh and succulent! Here in the Klang Valley, its is not the same but... bolehlah!

Hmmnnnn, let's not forget the vege dish of the day. It's just baby spinach. Though it does not look appetizing in the pic, it is good to eat. Everybody knows that spinach is brain food, very high vitamin content. That's why Popeye loves it!

9kg

Brought babyAzan for his  vaccination earlier today and he now weighs 9kg! His height is 68cm. His head circumference, 43cm. Everything seems to be good, I'm happy. Alhamdulillah.

He is still exclusively breastfed and has not been introduced to solids as yet. He is a happy and contented baby most of the time and is happiest being surrounded by his older brothers. He loves to chat and his best 'sembang' buddy is his great grandmother!
