Kleenex Power Of Play Bloggers Family Day!

Yayyyyy!! Last Saturday, we had the chance to attend the KLEENEX Power of Play Bloggers Family Day! *jiggle jiggle dance dance* When I received the invitation, I knew that there's no way that we were going to miss that! Mr. Ako was away in KK on the date of the event, so I went without him with Superhero 2 & 3. That explains the less than satisfactory photos that I have in my memory card, as my 'photographer' was not around!

It was tremendous FUN! Held at KizSports 1U, we get to engage in exciting wholesome PLAY activities and games by Creative Arts Therapist and drama teacher Abigail Barragry. Plus, Consultant Pediatrician Dr Yong Junina Fadzil presented on how to encourage kids to keep a clean routine.

And of course, there was the FOOD spread! Lots and lots of fooooood. And the kids get to PLAY to their hearts' content at the play area. Also, meeting many mommy bloggers and columnists as well =) I was highly excited, as it was my first ever Bloggers event (I was not able to attend the Friso event last year, what a waste eh).

We arrived at IU about 1 pm and yessssss, I spent thirty minutes finding a parking space, thank God I managed to get one, and even then it was at the very end nearing the loading bay area. Fuhhhh! Really big thanks to the parking attendant who showed us to a 'hidden' area. Parked the car and zasssssss we went to KizSports, and well, we were the early ones there *wipes sweat with a big grin*

Hahahahah, look at me, snapped photo of the dining area first and foremost! The kids were already excited seeing the arrangement and the balloons and the charged atmosphere, and can't wait for the event to start!

These are the lovely ladies who did our registration. Well done, we got our name stickers and tags right away. Being a first timer to a bloggers event, I was grinning when they saw me and acknowledged me as a 'media' rep. Wow, bloggers DO have a place in this world =)

We went in the hall, and the kids were on their best behavior (thank God!). They were looking around the place and checking out the people who were there with us. We waited quite a fair bit for the event to start and I was happy just soaking in the atmosphere =) I should have gone around making new friends, but I was a silly shy-shy cat. Duhh.

Too shy even to ask someone to take a photo of  us, so I self snapped this shot of myself with Superhero 3. Oh, now u know my middle name.

At 2.30 pm, Abigail Baragry of BluBricks Ampang started the ball rolling with an energetic song and dance workout. It got all of us singing and dancing too.

I love you, you love me,
We can PLAY so happily,
And we CLAP and we JUMP,
and we SHAKE each others' hands,
KLEENEX keep us clean and GRAND!

Then. Mr Nathan Kandapper, MD of Kimberly-Clark Malaysia/Singapore highlighted, "At Kleenex, we would like to believe we play a small part in advocating for our kids to play freely, in everyday situations. AT least, we are committed to providing the best in personal hygiene care for the family so that parents have the peace of mind while their children participate in imaginative, spontaneous play."

Later, these TRIO above, entertained us with more games and play activities that we wholeheartedly enjoyed. I was so happy being able to take part in these programs with my children! First, each family competed to recreate the most imaginative FROZEN photo scene depicting the thrill and freedom of being in the great outdoors. Me and my boys enjoyed this one very much! And our frozen moment was captured by the event photographer and the organizers printed it out and gave it to us after the event! Nak tengok tak? Tunggguuuuuuuuu.....

After that, we played more games. Everybody took part and from this activity we get to mingle around with all the guests in a FUN way.

How much FUN? Well, you can see form the above photo! Hahahaha, my sons got carried away with excitement and don't worry, they were not fighting with one another. It was just a friendly brotherly jostling, very usual when they PLAY.

And yes, the next activity was thoroughly enjoyable. It was a finger-painting session where each family raced to complete their most creative finger-painted drawing (following the theme given) within the shortest time possible. The first 10 families to complete the task in hand following the theme specified was announced as winners. We were one of them! Yayyyy! We got prizes too. Yippee! That was our 'artwork'. Four Superheroes flying kites in the field. Tee hee.

Next was chow time! Makan! Sausages, Nuggets, Fries, Tuna & Cheese sandwiches, Spaghetti Bolognaise, Fruits, Pizza, Ice-cream, mini cocktails snacks..... KENYANG!

FOOD!

MORE FOOD!

We love this event!

What we got from the event =)

For the kids.

The brand new product from KLEENEX. Hand Sanitizing Moist Wipes that effectively kills 99.9% germs which include H1N1 flu viruses and is also dermatologist-tested to be naturally nourishing and moisturizing (enriched with shea butter, natural aloe vera and vitamin E) on the skin and safe for use on babies and children. I'm telling you these wipes are cottony soft and sooooooo easy to use. After all the activities and games we played, especially the finger-painting session, we used these wipes and it cleansed gently but thoroughly. And you can just use it anywhere, in the car, in the classroom, at the field, anywhere in the outdoors.

As Consultant Pediatrician, Dr Yong Junina said at the event, "We need to argue for children being given more freedom to play and explore and not use the fear of germs as an excuse to get them cooped up inside watching television and playing sedentary computer games for hours on end. Real life experiences help children develop a thirst for knowledge and enhance their learning activity and creativity." So, these wipes are perfect to prevent the spread of germs when there is no access to soap and water. Yeah, easy for us parents kan?

The Kleenex goodies that I get to take home
*big grin*

And OH! I promised you the frozen photo scene yah?

Ta Daaaaaaaaaaaa

We had soooo much fun, thank you KLEENEX!!

Ujian dariNya

For the past 5 days all kinds of tests were done on her. At first lega bila pihak hospital kata hanya tender colon. Tapi after tests seterusnya, ada hal lain sebenarnya rentetan dari the surgery she had dulu tu.

Adik saya yang TIDAK PERNAH MENANGIS, cried like a child. Menanggung kesakitan, merasai kesedihan yang very raw dan anxious for procedure seterusnya.

Solat hajat, doa dan zikir penenang hati. Semoga diberi kekuatan untuk terus menempuhi cabaran. Akur menerima ujian dariNya.

GO GREEN!

My home state Selangor Darul Ehsan (being the most densely populated and urban state) kicked off with NO PLASTIC BAG DAY for every Saturdays since January 2010. It is without a doubt a very commendable effort and I am proud to be a Selangorian, as we are the first state in the country to have implemented the campaign. This campaign's main objective is to advocate against the indiscriminate use of plastic bags.

When first finding out about this, my initial response was 'Huh, boleh ke orang Malaysia ni?"
But I was ALL FOR IT. If we want to be a truly progressive nation and all that, we should pay attention to issues such as this, and do our bit for the environment and preserve precious landfill life.

Are you doing your share? I must say it has become a habit for me and hubs to bring with us reusable bags when we do our grocery  shopping whether to Tesco XTra or Giant during the weekends. For the past week, I have started bringing my reusable bag to my neighbourhood MyMydin also. But of course, some days I terlupa, and some days when beli barang banyak sangat, sampai tak cukup bags yang dibawa, kena guna plastic bags juga =) But, plastic bags tu di-recycle jadi plastic sampah. So, it's not just for single use lah.

So peps, make sure u bring reusable bags with ya or leave some in your car ya =)

Whole Thigh Roast Chick & Sour Cream Potato Parsley

Oh gosh... I know this is my happy blog... and I know many of you are used to reading about my happy posts, full of positive exuberance and sometimes.... maybe a tad smug narration? nyeahahaha. No lah, tak pernah pun berniat nak smug ke hapa, but sometimes people DO get the wrong message. Nama pun manusia kan. Sokmo nya tersilap.

Well, this post is about me whingeing. Oh I do despise whiney needy wives. But can't help feeling like one now. I want some alone time with my hubster. Without the kiddos. Just for a couple of days. He has been so very very busy, no doubt he HAD to, it's work and work means good if u r heading your own company. Even if u don't own a company, work is good. Work means employment which means there's money at the end of the month for the bread. Or in Malaysian context, for the rice. Or gosh, I am coming up with crappy analogies. I am really cracking up.

I love my kids to death, but I really really do need a weekend away with my boyfriend. My boyfriend tau. Oh gosh, jangan macam tu. Bukan I ada extra marital affair. Boyfriend tu my hubster lah. Sighhhhhhh.... Oh my goodness.... I hate sighing!! What have I become!

Baiklah, mari lah divert attention pada makanan. Roast chicken kegemaran ramai di rumah.

This is healthy, as it's not deep fried kan. The little oil used for basting tu olive oil. Which is bagus for health kan.

But I chose to indulge myself with this sinfully creamy and delish and highly calorific dish.
Oh my gossshhhhhh, comfort food okeh! And I sooooooooo need comforting right now.

Cheers luvvies.
Pray that I get my wish for the short honeymoon yah.

The Best of Friends

Superhero 1 has this thing called Monday Topic every Monday morning during assembly in his school. A particular topic will be given on Thursday, and each student is to prepare for it over the weekend. Topics given are from a wide range of subjects. Each student is to prepare the task given and get it ready to be presented in front of all their friends and teachers.

I find this a good exercise to develop confidence and improve speech/public speaking skills. Anyway, there's one week that the topic was My Best Friend. I was wondering who he will write about, and later show to his friends and teachers. I was thinking maybe he would write about his classmate Amar, or maybe about the Iranian girl Bahar, or the African boy Hafeny. Or maybe Anis?

So, guess who Azfar (above pic) wrote about?

?

Here,
Instead of My Best Friend, it became My Best Friends =)
He wrote about his two brothers, Superhero 2 & 3.

But poor thing kan......
Superhero 4 was not mentioned!
Alaaahhhhh, syian nyeeeee.......

When asked why little Azan was not included, Azfar replied " Tak best lah dia, asyik nak jerit and naaaaaangissss aje!"

Bwahahahahahah!

Happiness Comes From Mother =)

Keh keh. Kita ni kalau pasal mamam memang tak boleh tolak punya kan? Nak pulak makan tu berkumpul ramai-ramai. Macam mana laju mulut tengah bersembang tu, camtu la jugak laju tangan tu menyuap ke mulut. Yes or No?

Sabtu semalam, kitorang tak de penuhi jemputan sesapa... sebabnya, masing2 penat. Hubster baru balik from Jakarta after a week there, me pulak penat berkejar sini-sana for the past week pun rasa betul-betul tak larat nak pegi bersosial. Just masa pagi tu, pegi MyMydin beli barang sikit, and then balik prepare masak lunch. Itupun masak sempoi je. Sempoi and ringkas cemana tuh?

Hah, camni punya simple...
Masak Peria Gambas, and Ikan Bakar Sambal

Tak sangka pulak, murah rezeki betul hari Sabtu semalam kan. Malam lepas Maghrib tu, my mom, bro and family and my dad datang my house. Pastu siap makanan macam-macam. Fuyooooo, itulah namanya kegembiraan yang dibawa bersama oleh ibu!
Ada Karipap Pusing

Ada Agar2 Santan

Ada Sate

Ada Lontong, Buah Tembikai and Kuih Bengker.
Memang murah rezeki.
Makan ramai-ramai.
Fuhhhh!!
Love You Mom =)

Black Pepper Lamb Pie and Ayam Mandi buat kami GEMBIRA!!

Am extra chirpy and energetic today! Not only because it's the weekend, but also because Mr. Ako has returned home after a week in Jakarta. Yeah, smiles all around yo! Not only me, but the kids as well. Also, the daily pesterings from the heroes to dial their daddy's number has stopped now that he's home. Fuh! I can relax a tiny bit as their Daddy becomes another target for them to annoy, not just me! Hahahahahah =)

Anyway, told you earlier in a previous post that when the hubster is out of town, I automatically becomes a lazy bone. Kids enjoy the daily food scoutings with me outside from home. Imagine, this week alone we bombarded KFC about 3 times and Secret Recipe 3 times too! That excludes Kayu Manis, Mak Jah's, Domino's and Tanjung Corner. Habih la semua tempat makan kat BJ tu kitorang serang kan.

The kids' favourite place in BJ apart from Domino's, is Secret Recipe. Them and their Fish & Chips and Mac & Cheese. Me with my pastries of course. I like the Black Pepper Lamb Pie. Pic above, yums. I like their Chicken Cornish also.

Ha, tengok ni. Right after school ajak pegi Secret Recipe.

But, dalam asyik makan kat kedai, I still cook okay. My kitchen ada juga berasap. That's when my Roasted Ayam Tonggeng was prepared. Yummy tak nampak? The kids love it. Padahal, I dok marinade chacha marba je heheheheheh... Alhamdulillah diorang suka.

So they show their appreciation with kisses for their tired Mommy.
=)

Float or Sink?

Ammar's school science syllabus for Primary 1 includes a topic titled Float or Sink. In this topic, the students learn that some objects float and some objects sink and also how to make a floating object sink and vice versa.

In his Science Activity Book, there were pages and pages of worksheets where the students were supposed to fill up after doing experiments. Sadly, he relayed to me that they did not get to do any hands-on work/experiments, instead it's just the chalk and talk method just like when I was in primary school.

He showed me empty worksheets and kept saying, "Oh look Mommy, this looks like fun" and "I bet this one is interesting". I decided then that we would do the experiments at home. One such experiment is on how to make a floating object sink. I settled upon using an empty plastic bottle for this experiment.

I gave the bottle to Ammar and filled up a pail with water. Putting the bottle in water, Ammar shouted "FLOAT!!!!!". Oh, I really admire how the young ones get excited over the simplest things. heh heh.. I then told him that I wanted him to try making the bottle sink, and he could use any materials available in the house for his experiment. "No clues, think on your own" I droned.

I was trying to guess what he would experiment with. Maybe the coins in his wooden box? Maybe he would fill it with the soil available in the garden? Maybe the wooden beads in the container which we used to teach them counting? I was excited at all the prospects.

"Ok, Ammar. You are free to go to any area in the house to look for things that you could use to make this bottle sink. Out you go." I excitedly instructed him out from the bathroom.

"Huh, Mommy?" he looked at me with a bewildered expression on his face. "What are you on about? I don't have to go anywhere."

EXCUSE ME?

He took the cap off the bottle, filled it with water from the tap.................

And dunked it into the pail and shouted "SINK!!!!!"

Eh he he he he hehhhhhhh =)
Apa daaaaa Mommy pikir pasal nak masukkan beads lah, tanah lah kah kah kah kah kahhhhhhhh!!!

=D

65!

Oh oh oh, another entry that is due waaayyyyy back but yours truly is such an egghead that she has forgotten all about it. My Dad turns 65 this year! It was a Friday, and I made Mee Soto for the occasion with Rendang Daging and Nasi Himpit ala Raya, coz at that time it was still in the early month of Syawal. Small gathering, only immediate family members. My sis, bro, hubster and Dad came after Jumaat prayers and after the makan-makan, they went back to work.

 All lit up.

Shiny Stuff from Hubster for Raya

Syawal dah sampai ke penghujungnya. Hingga ketemu lagi di tahun hadapan InsyaAllah. That reminds me that I meant to post something up in this blog of mine, but I kept forgetting to. I really need to consume some Fish Oil supplements lah, or else Gingko Biloba tabs.... getting more and more absent-minded. Sighhhh.

Oh yes. So I am guessing that u Mommies got some goodies from the Hubster this Raya yes? Shoes? Handbags? Gold? Alhamdulillah, Syukran. We wifeys even if we could afford to buy our own presents, reaaaallllyyyyy appreciate kan if we get gifts from the other half. Well, I did get what I was secretly wanting. A 'Bunga Raya' set. Hehe. Of Princesses, Dragons and Heroism

While lepakking together with my Superheroes before we went off to Dreamland last night, we were looking at a book with the Happy Ever After kinda theme and has a storyline which was kinda what girls would normally prefer. The book must be a gift from someone as there is no possible way that they could have chosen it themselves =)

Anyway, Superhero 2 and 3 were poring over the book. Superhero 1 was lying down with his back on us. Superhero 4 was too busy making a mess of the bookcase to really bother.

Superhero 3: Oh Mommy, look! Here's the Prince. Am I your handsome Prince Mommy?

Mommy: Of course you are my handsome Prince sweetheart..

Superhero 3: How many handsome Prince do you have? *(was this a trick question? bwahaha)*

Mommy: Errrrr...... FOUR of course. All of u are my handsome Princes.

Superhero 2: Yeckkkk!!! Adam! Don't be such a poncy! Who wants to be a Prince anyway? He never gets to do anything cool. All he does get to do is kiss the Princess. Eeeeeeeeee!

Superhero 3: Mommy is my Princess. I love Mommy.

Superhero 2: Mommy cannot be your Princess. She is your Mother. Don't you know anything? I want to be a KNIGHT! I get to slay dragons and use a shiny sword. Wooohooo!

Superhero 3: I want to be a KNIGHT too! And Mommy can be the Princess. Okay Mommy?

Mommy: Errrrrrr.... I would rather be the dragon....

Superhero 2: Adam! Why do you always want to include a Princess? Mommy wants to be the dragon lah. There's no girls in this story. Girls are annoying.

Superhero 3: (In an authoritative voice and saying the words slowly as if to explain to a much younger child), Ammar, there MUST be a Princess in this story. If not, what are we fighting dragons and slaying giants for? There must be a girl for us to SAVE!

Superhero 3: But but but........ Er, OH!

Mommy: *Gelak Sakan Pecah Perot*

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ah, Men and Boys. Deep in their hearts, they all want to be heroes.
Nanti Rumah Bawah Jambatan
The Mommy will automatically hang her apron whenever The Daddy is away on business. This week is no exception to the self-made rule. Monday night she took the boys for dinner at Kayu Manis. Tuesday night to Domino's. And tonight, Wednesday night, to Secret Recipe. Her sons were ecstatic. Dinner out at favourite eating places for three nights in a row. Already excited for what's in store tomorrow night, Superhero 1 suggested San Francisco Pizza. Superhero 2 shouted out Ayers Rock. Superhero 3 agreed to both suggestions. Superhero 4 is still innocent and would be happy chomping down Koko Krunch with HL Milk. The Mommy was doing Math in her head. Dinner out easily cost RM100+ each time as she has a big family.
Superhero 1: So Mommy, where to for dinner tomorrow?
Mommy: Errr.... home I think.
Superhero 2: But WHY?
Mommy: Because if we do this every night, we might end up living UNDER THE BRIDGE.
Superhero 1,2 & 3: Wowwwww!!! How COOL is that? When do we move to the new house Mom? Will there be an actual RIVER? Will we have a BOAT?
Mommy: Eh?! @$%&#
=D
Pink @ Kuala Kubu
The very next day after the wedding (bride's side) in Cheras, we went off for Majlis Sambut Menantu (Groom's side). The theme was pink and purple. Oh, lega. Kebetulan, another one of my baju raya yang baru siap memang pink purple. And I got a matching new tudung to go with it. Bought at one of the kiosks at Giant Seksyen 13. I love it! =)
My Gaban Sunglass in action again ;)
And of course, my Superheroes were all with me!
Makan Nasi Minyak yang sangat sedap.
No pic, as it was blazin' hot and segala peluh jantan pun keluar.
Hehe.
Purple @ Cheras
Last weekend ada attend majlis kahwin my cousin from my mom's side. Anak arwah Alang, yang sulung. 28 years old dah dia, dah kahwin dah pun ya. Sekejap aje masa berlalu. I am happy to see how he has turned out to be, even having to grow up without a dad, and having to be the man of the house, the primal strength for his mother and three siblings. The hardship of life, will make a man of virtue, and it's true in this case. Cousin Ashar have come full circle and have embarked in the next phase of life. All my prayers and good wishes for him. Semoga berbahagia ke anak cucu cicit, Amin.
Tema pengantin merah menyala. Rombongan pihak lelaki pakai blue, tapi I sesat pakai purple. heh heh. Ok lah tu kan ;P
Baju raya yang baru siap! Tudung lemau ni jugak yang I pakai ek.
Pasangan mempelai.
Superheroes meng'amin'kan doa, and tak sabar nak makan. Lapauuuuuuu!
Walaupun majlis bukan di tempat mewah, tapi ke'lezatan' lauk gulai lemak nangka and daging dendeng adalah 5 Star! Yeahhhh!
Salted Egg Soft Shell Crab & Ribena Special
Hiya Peeps! Oh my, my superheroes lately is soooooo into Mommy's Ayam Goreng Crispy Sticky, that they want to have that menu everyday!! Okay la jugak, as it's super duper easy to prepare. Just marinade chicken drumsticks with kicap, oyster sauce, honey and a dash of salt & pepper, and also paprika powder. Goreng garing and makan panas-panas.
Ni la dia ayam goreng crispy sticky tu, I donno why picture ni ter'rotate' pulak.
So anyway, everyday frying the above said dish, Mommy wanted time-out. So, daddy had to bring Mommy for a dinner outside from the 'confines' of her four walls heheh. I wanted to try out Homst restaurant which opened in Seksyen 13 Shah Alam, near Tesco Xtra. My housing area and Sekseyen 13 SA ni kira sebelah-menyebelah. After fetching Ammar from school last evening, we shoot off to Homst.
Here's Ammar...... still in Baju Melayu. His school held a Majlis Khatam Quran & Kelas Terbuka Hari Raya. All the kids were required to wear traditional attire. So, all came with baju raya. It was a really festive sight! They brought cookies to share amongst their classmates too.
At Homst, I wanted to try out air Ribena Special (above pic). It's actually Ice Blended Ribena with fruit cocktail thrown in, and real watermelon and lychees too. It's highly sedap to my tekak, just as long as they don't put in too much syrup, then it would be overwhelmingly sweet.
As there were only three of us last night dining at Homst, so we ordered small plates of Kangkung Goreng Belachan, Salted Egg Soft Shell Crabs (absolutely delish!), Har Lok Prawns and my hubby nak juga order Tom Yam. I told him, he should have ordered Shark's Fin Soup lah instead. Kan? But, dia memang suka makan Tom Yam, apa nak buat :) We also ordered two Ribena Special, one Iced Lemon Tea and Iced Nescafe. All amounted to 70+. Not bad lah kan? Ok, next time boleh pegi lagi lah.
Twitter Virgin
Just got registered on Twitter. So, tweet tweet tweet me @Dikwi if u so wish my dear dear readers =)
Resipi SHM: Nasi Tomato
Hiya Folks! Been awhile since I last posted any recipes or pics of food that I cooked myself =) Last one was during the Ramadhan month if i do recall correctly. The hubster is super-busy this month with back to back events happening, and travelling weekly, sometimes twice a week even, so my cooking was mostly food that the kids requested. Such as chicken rice, spaghetti bologneise, macaroni & cheese, masak kicap or sambal sardine.
I raided my freezer and I found the last packet of beef cubes that hubby bought in Greenwood on the last day of Ramadhan. He bought about 3 kg of beef, so I have made quite a number of dishes using beef for the past few weeks, and yesterday wanted to get rid of the last remaining pack.
I decided on Beef Kurma with Potatoes. The gravy I made quite thin, as the boys won't eat it if it's thick. I then thought of pairing it with Nasi Tomato and used the recipe which I got from sis Hanieliza. I used this recipe before and found it satisfactory and easy to prepare.
Will post more soon yeahhh =)
UPDATED: Oh, just to tell you that I also added fried shallots in the rice =) Lagi shedap and wangi.
OF LOVE. OF LIFE. OF US
